What our software has to serve
Building software that contributes to:

Data ethics
People are part of the information system
The digitisation of private, corporate, state and public life produces an exponential rise in digital traces. Data sits at the heart of human activity, and people must be treated as an integral part of information systems.
Collecting and analysing large volumes of data has to respect a strict code of ethics and the protection of fundamental freedoms.
The ability to monitor and protect data must not remain the preserve of states and large accounts. It has to be within reach of the small and mid-sized companies that carry the French economy and face cyber risk with limited financial and technical means.
Controlling your own data concerns every individual too: once data has leaked, people become potential targets for fraud, phishing, disinformation and even identity theft.
So our purpose is not only to detect. It is also to guide people on sound digital practice, which sharply reduces both cyber risk and the mental load that comes with it.

The associations Aleph supports
Aleph has respected and defended human and cultural diversity from the start. Supporting other people and projects aligned with those values is part of the work.
Point de Contact
One of the bodies behind the French Safer Internet Centre, alongside e-Enfance, which runs the Net Écoute helpline, and Internet Sans Crainte, the awareness service. Point de Contact is the illegal-content reporting service.
School support
Personalised, funded tutoring for pupils facing social hardship or dropping out of school.
Local cultural life
A cultural association that promotes, produces and runs musical and artistic activities locally.
Partner schools
We care about passing things on. Teaching inside recognised degree programmes means helping talents and vocations come to light, building skills, and putting questioning back at the centre of learning.
Environmental impact
What an indexing engine consumes
- A language chosen for its frugality
- Aleph has used Java since 2012, by choice. It ranks among the five least energy-hungry programming languages and uses thirty-eight times less energy than Python, the reference language for artificial intelligence and machine learning.
- Servers moving to renewable energy
- Our server infrastructure will progressively run on 100% renewable energy, wind and solar.
- Reuse rather than replacement
- We back schemes for reusing servers, recycling them and repairing parts. Investments are planned to move towards 100% of that kind of hardware.
